The Beginner Program at Metro Tacoma Fencing Club (MTFC) is designed to provide foundational skills for fencers. Basic footwork and bladework techniques are introduced. All necessary equipment is provided. Students should wear long sweatpants or athletic pants (no jeans, no shorts) and athletic shoes. Students should bring their own drink, snack, and hand towel. Masks covering the nose and mouth are required to participate. Social distancing will be maintained during the class.

First Class: Introduction to Fencing Options
Before committing to weekly classes, you can try one of our Intro Clinics in September and October. These clinics are held on Saturdays and run for 2 hours. It is available to a fencer one time only. After an intro clinic, you can either join a group beginner class or sign up for private lessons to continue this sport.
If you prefer a smaller and more personal setting, we can instead schedule a one-on-one half hour introductory session for $15. This option is available to a fencer one time only. After an intro session, you can either join a group beginner class or sign up for private lessons to continue this sport.
Beginner Classes and Private Lessons
Once you are ready for weekly classes, new beginners have a discounted rate for the first three months -- once a week classes are $100/months and twice a week classes are $130/month.
